Kindergarteners in Art Class are learning all about ways that you can use art to help your community. To begin our lesson, we read the book "What Are You So Grumpy About" by Tom Lichtenheld. We talked about how everyone feels grumpy sometimes, but there are healthy coping strategies that you can do to help yourself feel better. We also discussed how art can be a tool to help people around you. Printmaking is an art form that allows artists to create multiple versions of the same piece of artwork. Students designed their own collagraph prints featuring imagery that displays something they want to share with other people. They made three copies of their prints: one for themselves, one to give to someone else, and one to put in a collective pot with the rest of the kindergarteners.
