I can't get enough of these incredible texture monsters created by my Kindergarteners! Today we continued to discuss an Element of Art called texture. We described texture as the way something feels or how it looks like it feels. We talked about ways that texture can be implied through drawing methods.
We read a book called "Hey, That's My Monster!" by Amanda Noll and looked at the different textures used by the illustrators. After that, we discussed ways to draw certain textures. Students drew two designs, decided on their favorite, and drew a larger version of it. They eventually made their own "texture monsters" using at least 3 different kinds of implied texture.
