Nature Painting

I love the variety of tones we were able to get from our handmade paints! My MSCR class went on a walk through the woods and collected resources we could use to make paint. This included soil, berries, grass, flower petals, and some turmeric root that I brought.

Every student was in charge of mashing and mixing a color. Some of them (such as the grass) needed to be blended. They then shared that color with the group so everyone could use it. We painted on top of our handmade paper that we made the week before. One of my students took an extra step after he finished and created a chart in his sketchbook to see how all the colors mixed together.
